Limits apply per device size on Apple and per device type on Google, so a phone and a tablet each get their own set. Sources: Apple and Google, last checked on 10 October 2026.

How many should you actually use?

There is no rule that says you have to fill every slot, but most people only look at the first few screenshots, so the early ones do the most work. A sensible plan:

  • 5 to 8 screenshots is enough for most apps. Each should make one clear point.
  • Put your strongest promise in the first screenshot, then the core feature, then the supporting features.
  • Use the last slot for a trust or closing message, such as sync, privacy or what makes the app different.
  • Do not add filler to reach 10. A weak slide at the end is worse than no slide.

Screentrino templates are built as 8-slide sets, which fits inside both stores' limits, so you can use the same set on the App Store and on Google Play. Browse the 79 templates.

More limits worth knowing

  • Apple lets you upload screenshots per localization. If a localization has none, Apple uses the next best language.
  • If your UI is the same across device sizes, Apple only requires the highest resolution and scales it down for the others.
  • On Apple, app previews are placed before the screenshots on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
  • Google Play has separate limits for Wear OS (at least 1), Android TV (at least 1) and Android XR (4 to 8).

Frequently asked questions

How many screenshots can you upload to the App Store?

You can upload at least 1 and up to 10 screenshots for each device size.

How many screenshots can you upload to Google Play?

Google Play needs at least 2 screenshots to publish, and you can upload up to 8 for each supported device type.

How many app preview videos can I add on the App Store?

Up to 3 per device size and language. Each must be 15 to 30 seconds long.

Should I use all 10 App Store screenshots?

Not necessarily. Use as many as tell a clear story, usually 5 to 8. Put your strongest message first, because the early screenshots do the most work.

Can I use the same screenshots on both stores?

You can reuse the same designs, but each store has its own accepted sizes, so export a version for each.
